The President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has secured employment with the Federal Inland Revenue Service for 26 members of his constituency in his Yobe North Senatorial District.
The development was confirmed amid a brewing crisis in the Senate over allegations that the leadership had cornered all appointments meant for the 109 Senators in Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
This followed the refusal of the heads of MDAs to honour the invitation of a committee chaired by Senator Danjuma La’ah probing what has been termed illegal employments.
La’ah had complained bitterly over the development, saying the fact that employment quotas had been allocated to the leadership of the Senate will not stop the probe.
Confirming the employment of the 26 Yobe North Senatorial District indigenes via Facebook was a group loyal to Lawan: “Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan Social Media Forum #Sailsomef.”
The group in a post on its Facebook wall thanked Lawan for the appointments, with an accompanying photograph showing one of the beneficiaries with his employment letter.
The post read: “Thank you Dan Masanin Bade!
“H.E Senate President has secured a Job Opportunity to 26 Indigenes of Yobe North at Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and they have received their appointment letters of which they are to start work with immediate effect. May Allah makes it beneficial to them and the humanity in general.
“We with alacrity register words of appreciations to President of the Senate, May Allah uplift His status and reward Him abundantly, Ameen.
“Please accept our warmest congratulations.”
