AUN wins third award from African Leadership Magazine

The United States of America-based African Leadership Development Foundation Inc. in conjunction with the pan-African magazine, African Leadership, has named the American University of Nigeria winner of the ‘African Leading Development Institute Award’ for its unparalleled leadership among Nigerian institutions of higher learning.
The award will be conferred in New York City at the St. Regis Hotel on September 25 as part of the 2nd US-Africa Trade, Investment and Exchange Forum.
African Leadership reaches an audience of international business and governmental leaders concerned with Africa’s many under-reported success stories.
This is the third time that the University has been recognized by the London-based magazine.
In 2011, AUN President, Margee Ensign, won the ‘Distinguished Leadership Award in Personal Excellence’, and in 2012, AUN won the ‘African Leading University of the Year Award.’
The CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Dr. Ken Giami, in announcing the award in a letter to President Ensign, said: “The Board took cognizance of the institution’s innovative learning tools and world world-class equipment, the curricula, structural and infrastructural standards, competence of resource persons, as well as satisfactory perception feedback from students and stakeholders.”
The US-Africa Trade Investment and Exchange Forum, in collaboration with President Obama’s Doing Business in Africa Programme, will bring together in New York more than 250 leaders of African business, policymakers, US Congressmen, American investors and members of the diplomatic corps to discuss strategies that will strengthen US-Africa business relations.
Founded in 2003, the American University of Nigeria, Africa’s first ‘development university’, is located in Yola, Adamawa State and is the only private, co-educational American-style institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
All students are required to participate in AUN’s local development projects and engage in Internet-based research on a campus, which provides 24 hour/day power, Internet access, and award-winning e-library facilities.
