Newcastle’s Manager, Alan Pardew, has tipped Nigerian international, Shola Ameobi, to spring some surprises at Brazil 2014 World Cup if the player is listed for the Mundial.
Pardew refused to rule out any role for Newcastle stalwart Ameobi, even the striker turning up at 10 Downing Street as Prime Minister.
Ameobi is in the Nigeria squad that made it to next summer’s World Cup in Brazil by beating Ethiopia in the final African qualifying round, and the Magpies boss sung the praises of his forward.
Newcastle host Norwich as the Premier League gets back in full swing after the international break and Pardew wasn’t slow to single out Ameobi in particular for his efforts for club and country.
“I don’t think he will go to another World Cup and it is fantastic for him and Nigeria are lucky to have him,” said Pardew.
“He is a top player. He is in form and could be a surprise package in the World Cup who will do well on that stage.
“Shola has been fantastic for this football club in more ways than one.
“I don’t know about an ambassadorial role for him. He could be Prime Minister with his personality.”
