The Senate on Tuesday screened six more ministerial nominees.
One of nominees, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, however, incurred the wrath of the senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The trouble started when Usani responded to a question on whether he has had cause to work with any PDP senator.
Usani responded: “God forbid.”
His response was greeted with extreme anger by the PDP senators.
The nominee, realising the import and impact of the response, quickly apologised to the senators.
Efforts by the PDP senators to block his screening was prevented by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who ruled the lawmakers out of order.
Also, power outrage nearly marred the screening of the nominees.
The quick intervention of the maintenance unit of the National Assembly saved the day.
The power outage lasted just 10 minutes as the lights were restored and the screening continued.
Other nominees screened on Tuesday were Prof. Adewole Folorunso, Hon. Bawa Bwari, Geoffrey Onyeama, Zainab Ahmed and Mansur Dan Ali.
In all, 31 ministerial nominees have been screened, while 18 have been confirmed as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
