The Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo on his emergence as the governor-elect of Edo State, saying it is a testimony of his acceptability among voters.
Bamidele said this in a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs and made available to the media on Monday.
He said Okpebholo’s victory in two elections within a space of one and half year showed his connection with the people at the grassroots.
He urged the governor-elect to fulfill his campaign promises and aim towards repositioning the state for development and take dividends of democracy to the ordinary people.
The statement reads: “The emergence of Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo popularly known as ‘Akpakomiza’ at the just concluded Edo Governorship Election on September 21, 2024 , is testimony of his acceptability among the people of Edo State.
“Senator Okpebholo has proven to the ‘doubting Thomases’ that he is connected with the grassroots by winning two elections within the space of 18 months in Edo State.
