Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has been appointed to Chair the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.
The appointment by the World Bank marks the first time Nigeria has assumed the role of Chairman in 60 years.
The development was announced by the Ministry of Finance on its X handle on Saturday as Edun attended the ongoing World Bank/International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Morocco.

The Ministry said the appointment will give room for the Minister to further project and promote the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
