Seven persons died on Monday in an auto crash at Karnaya Village in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The accident involved an 18-seater commercial vehicle and a Jeep.
An eyewitness, Malam Hussaini Danlami, said the two vehicles were moving in opposite directions when they collided.
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Malam Aminu Umar, who confirmed the incident, attributed the tragedy to dangerous overtaking.
“From the information made available to us, the accident was caused by dangerous overtaking,” Umar said
Umar said that his officers had deposited seven corpses at Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, adding that four other victims were being treated for injuries at the same hospital.
