The office of the Secretary to the Gombe State Government as well as the Government House clinic are to be closed and fumigated after a staff of the Government House died of COVID-19 on Sunday.
The Chairman of the state’s Task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Idris Mohammed, disclosed this on Wednesday in Gombe while briefing newsmen.
Mohammed said the outcome of the test conducted on the deceased was among those of several others that turned out positive of COVID-19.
He said the sample of the deceased had been taken for testing before his death and the results came in on Wednesday.
According to him, the task force has taken measures to ensure that community transmission is limited.
He said: “The office of the SSG will be closed and fumigated as well as the government house clinic where the deceased was admitted for a few days.
“All members of his (deceased) family and community who had contact with him will be traced, counselled and tested for COVID-19.
“These efforts are to limit community transmission of the virus.”
Mohammed stated that since the deceased was also a member of the state’s Task Force on COVID-19, all members of the task force would be screened for COVID-19 and anyone found positive would be isolated.
The chairman added that all those who participated in the burial of the deceased would be traced, tested and isolated until the results of their tests were out.
