A sociopolitical group, Ibadan Youths Mandate, on Friday said the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bayo Adelabu, is the candidate to beat at both the forthcoming gubernatorial primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the 2019 general election in Oyo State.
The IYM in a signed press statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Adesola Adeogun, warned the people it regarded as the enemies of progress to desist forthwith from spreading unfounded falsehood that Bayo Adelabu would not contest again.
The statement said: “We can authoritatively tell the general public especially the teeming supporters across APC and the state in general that Bayo Adelabu will contest this race as he is presently on his way out of the apex bank having fulfilled all statutory requirements for his official disengagement.
“The teeming youths have seen in him a man with impeccable character and unblemished professional career who has all it takes to reposition this state for a greater tomorrow.
“Those peddling rumour against his competence and readiness should rather wait till next month when Bayo Adelabu will roll out his agenda for the development of the state and stop badmouthing a man eagerly awaiting the opportunity of the forthcoming race to deliver and make Oyo a new haven for abundant wealth to all.”
The group therefore appealed to Adelabu to be weary of detractors and remain focussed on the task ahead.
