Broadband challenges take centre stage at Africa Digital Forum

Critical issues affecting the information communication and technology such as broadband and its attendant challenges would be the focus of Africa Digital Forum, which would incorporate Africa Digital Forum and Awards, with the theme Broadband Nigeria – The Journey Ahead, taking place on November 23 at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Ikeja.
Experts at the forum would also examine broadband penetration, quality of service, among others.
Aside the forum, attention would also be on industry experts that have contributed to the development of information and communication technology space in the past.
Leading other industry eggheads for honours is a former Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission and Chairman, Open Media, Ernest Ndukwe.
The focus of the second edition of ADA is to celebrate individuals and corporate entities that have leveraged on the potent power of ICT to innovate and execute different ideas.
The Group Managing Director, Computer Warehouse Group, Austin Okere, would be the guest speaker at the event and would be supported by Engr. Umar Bindr, Director General, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion.
Tayo Adewusi of the organising committee of the ADA awards informed that this year’s edition coincides with the 10th anniversary of the award winning television programme, ICT Watch Network, which was anchored by him since inception.
While speaking on those that have been pencilled for honours, Adewusi said aside several industry experts that would attend the awards, over six state executives would also be present.
The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Dr. Eugene Juwah, would deliver the keynote address that would pinpoint the next direction of the industry.
Former Communications Minister and one of the greatest influences on the ICT industry in Nigeria in the last decade, Engr. Olawale Ige, would also grace the event.
Adewusi hinted that there are moves by his organisation to encourage participation of players and government representatives from neighbouring West African countries who have expressed keen interest in ADA.
Organisations that have confirmed attendance include NigComSat, Galaxy Backbone, Omatek Computers, Teledom Group, Systemspecs, Techno, Direct-On-PC, Zinox Computers, Post Master General of the Federation and NIPOST, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, New Horizons, Nigerian Identity Management Commission, among others.
