The National Judicial Council has threatened to institute legal action against a television station, which reported that it had ordered that the suspended President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Isa Salami, be reinstated and all his salaries and entitlements paid.
The NJC, it was learnt, is demanding a retraction of the story that was aired on Thursday or that the television station be prepared for a law suit.
Sources revealed that a reporter with the television station, who is said to be one of the anchormen of the Action Congress of Nigeria’s plot to rescue Salami, wrote the offending story earlier in the day with the belief that the NJC, based on the recommendation before it ahead of Thursday’s meeting, was going to ratify the reinstatement of Salami.
The reporter was said to have gone out after writing the story and leaving it back in the office.
Another staff on the News Desk of the television station reportedly stumbled on the script and ran it as Breaking News, not realising that the script was not meant for airing and that the NJC had decided otherwise.
