As the 2019 general elections draw closer, no fewer than 3,200 aggrieved persons have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress and Advance Democratic Party from Niger South (Zone A) Senatorial District to join the Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State.
The Eagle Online gathered that the defectors are drawn from eight local government areas, including Bida, the headquarters of Zone A, where the PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, flagged off his campaign at the zone where he picked his running mate, Mohammed Kudu Ndayeko.
It should be recalled that Umar Nasko contested for same position in 2015 but lost to the incumbent, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
The decampees from the ruling party were led by Alhaji Kudu Kasim with over 1,200 members, while the ADP defectors were led by Alhaji Yahaya Designer, with another 1,500 members, and Adebaye Nupe with 800 youths who joined the major opposition at the event.
The eight local governments from the zone came out in their numbers to declare their support for the candidature of Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko and other party candidates for the 2019 general elections.
The immediate past Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, who is the leader of the party; State Chairman of PDP, Tanko Beji; senatorial candidates and former lawmakers as well as prominent party faithfuls attended the occasion.
