2015: New Delta speaker gets automatic ticket

The new Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, has been adopted to contest the 2015 House of Assembly election for a second tenure by politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party in his Oshimili South Constituency.
The speaker came on board after the estranged former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, was forced to resign after over two-third of his colleagues have signed his impeachment notice.
The leadership of the party in the area took the decision after its special meeting at the party’s secretariat to endorse Onwusanya for a second term.
Besides, the party passed a vote of confidence on Onwusanya, a first timer in the House, for working in synergy with the executive to attract development projects to the area.
The Chairman of the PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Evangelist Ebielim Maduemezie, who addressed the enlarged executive meeting comprising local government and ward executives, averred that the party leadership had critically considered and appraised his performance since assumption of office and was satisfied with his various empowerment programmes.
Maduemezie said that he had related exceptionally with the PDP executive committee and other party members, pointing out that skill acquisition for unemployed youths, cash empowerment for women, distribution of cars and other materials to enhance welfare of his constituents singled him out as a worthy leader.
“We have decided that you will break the jinx of one tenure syndrome that have persisted among all (our) representatives at the Delta State House of Assembly and hereby pledge to adopt and return you as our candidate for House of Assembly in 2015.” his people said.
Later in a press release endorsed by Maduemezie, Elder Chukwuma Belonwu and Ogbueshi Eugene Odiachi, the PDP chairman, secretary and publicity secretary respectively, they held that the speaker has also fostered love and unity in the party and have displayed effective leadership.
The representative of the Speaker, Hon Eloka Nwanze, lauded the PDP executive committee for the decision to reciprocate their representative in the House of Assembly and assured them that Onwusanya will continue to work for the betterment of the constituents.
