Barely one week after his meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Friday held a closed doors meeting with former Military President, retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, in continuation of his nationwide consultation with elders of the party.
Mu’azu, who led a 15-man team, arrived the Minna Hilltop residence of the former military president at about 12:05pm on Friday and entered the closed doors meeting, which lasted till 1:05pm.
Members of Mu’azu’s entourage included the PDP National Youth Leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Maibasera; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Gali Na’aba; and the state PDP acting Chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji, were excused from the meeting to enable the two leaders have what has been termed confidential and private session.
Emerging from the meeting, the host, General Babangida, declined to decline to speak with journalists.
The former leader bluntly told newsmen that he was not prepared to talk.
In his words: “I am not going to say a word.
“I am not talking.”
Mu’azu, however, said he was in Minna as part of his reconciliatory move and in continuation of his meeting with some elders of the party since he emerged as the national chairman of the ruling party.
According to him: “I am here in continuation of my visit to our elders and I had a fruitful meeting with the former president.
“It was a fruitful meeting.”
Mu’azu, while declining to give details of the meeting, said: “What we discussed is not meant for public consumption.
“All I can say is that we had a fruitful discussion.”
Mu’azu also met with the Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
The convoy left for the private residence of the Niger State governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, where another round of meeting lasted for 20 minutes.
