2015: I have parted ways with Amaechi – Uduaghan

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has disowned his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, on account of his journey to the rival All Progressives Congress.
Governor Uduaghan, who early this year vowed to “swim and sink” with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, categorically said Governor Ameachi is on his own.
According to the governor, his Rivers State counterpart shattered the existing political relationship between them when he openly declared for the APC.
Speaking at his Mid-Year Briefing at the Unity Hall of the Government House, Asaba at the weekend, when he was bombarded with questions on how the South South Governors would come up with a bloc support for a successful 2015 electioneering, Governor Uduaghan, who lamented how Governor Amaechi teamed up with APC leaders to truncate the transformational agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, his next of kin, did not take his fraternity with APC lightly.
He said: “Don’t ask me questions concerning Governor Amaechi.
“We are not in the same political party.
“He is of the APC and I am in PDP.
“He is working for his party, I am working for my party.
“So, politically, I have no business with him.
“When 2015 comes, we shall know which party is more popular.”
Uduaghan said the fact of how votes would be garnered for the ruling party’s presidential candidates and others spoke for itself in the recent victory recorded by the PDP in the Ekiti state governorship election.
According to him, that the Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, coasted to victory in such a keenly contested election and sent the incumbent and candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, packing, spoke volume of what to expect in the forthcoming governorship elections in APC-controlled states and the 2015 presidential election.
He said: “PDP is still the number one party in Nigeria.
“We are all witnesses to what happened in Ekiti State recently.
“Something like that will be replicated in Osun State.
“We are taking them back one after the other.
“By the time we get to the Presidency, you will see that we are the leading party.
“Our lost sheep are all beginning to retrace their steps.
“In the forthcoming council polls in our state here, I have not anointed anybody because I am the governor of all the contestants.
“As much as possible, some aspirants are stepping down for the other in my party.”
Uduaghan however lamented that other registered political parties in the state apart from the PDP, were neither consulting nor campaigning.
He said: “For instance, since DSIEC (Delta State Independent Electoral Commission) announced the date for the conduct of council polls in this state (Delta), we only hear PDP campaigning across the state.
“Where are the opposition parties?
“We (PDP) are the only one moving round.
“By the time they (opposition parties) lose now, they will be protesting and crying foul.”
