Soldiers killed my three sons – El-Zakzaky

A day after soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna State allegedly shot and killed some adherents of the Shi’ite sect in Zaria in Kaduna State, the leader of the Islamic sect in Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has alleged that the soldiers killed 35 people, including his three biological sons.
El-Zakzaky, however, appealed to his followers all over the world to remain calm and not to take the laws into their hands.
He said it was a plot to provoke and cause confusion in Zaria since a similar motive had failed to cause pandemonium in Kaduna.
He was apparently referring to the bomb attacks on Sheik Dahiru Bauchi and General Muhammadu Buhari’ days in Kaduna earlier.
The crisis began when the soldiers tried to intercept a procession in Zaria, where members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria denounced Israel’s aggression against the people of Gaza.
El-Zakzaky said it was the police that assisted them to find the dead near Basawa community in Zaria.
El-Zakzaky said at a press conference in Zaria on Saturday that the soldiers were still holding corpses of the adherents of the body and did not appear ready to release the bodies, even as they could not allow anybody to approach them.
He said: “We have a total of 16 corpses in their custody, while nine corpses were taken to the teaching hospital in the night apart from my three children.
“The soldiers also killed three people this morning as they were passing by in front of Hussainiya, headquarters of our movement.
“One of my sons, Mahmud, a student of Almustapha University, Beirut, was shot at the abdomen and started bleeding.
“We tried to rush him to the hospital, but the soldiers blocked everywhere along the way.
“He bled to death.”
El-Zakzaky, who was flanked by sympathizers from across the federation, explained further that the soldiers had arrested some people, including three of his sons, who were taken alive and later killed two of them.
He said those killed were Ahmad, a Chemical Engineering student at Shenyang University, China; Hamid, an Aeronautical Engineer at Xian University, China; and Mahmud.
He said another of his sons, Ali, who was injured on the leg, was still alive.
His words: “When we demanded for the release of our people, the Army refused, that they would take them to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital for medication, not knowing that the two were killed.
“I want to assure you that the these two children were murdered (in cold blood) because they were taken alive.”
