Mr Gbenga Olorunpomi, an aide to former Lagos state Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described as wicked, the statement credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state that Asiwaju Tinubu is plotting to impose his daughter as the leader of market women.
According to him, the allegation which has been investigated and found to be false, is an attempt to desecrate the memory of the former governor’s mother, late Alhaja Abibat Mogaji.
Olurunpomi who is a Digital Strategist to the former Governor said he has watched the video of the 8-day Fidau prayer, saying at no point did Asiwaju Tinubu made mention of anything like his daughter taking over as ‘Iyaloja’ of Lagos state.
He said, “After watching the live transmission of the 8-day Fidau Prayer for Alhaja Abibat Mogaji last Sunday, it has been found out that the Lagos office of the Peoples Democratic Party Lagos lied and spread falsehood over the alleged plot by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to impose of his daughter as the next Iyaloja.
“After carefully reviewing the tape, it was discovered that at no point during the event and after did Tinubu make any public pronouncement about his daughter has its now being salaciously bandied about in the media.
“In fact, he never said a word during the entire programme. It takes very little effort to investigate whether Tinubu made such a public a pubic pronouncement and it found to be false.
“Special tributes to the late mother of Tinubu were read by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Sunday Dare, while the vote of thanks was delivered by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
“One would wish that journalists, bloggers and online types would ask questions and dig a bit deeper before flashing rumours as stories.
“You cannot put a man in jail simply because you suspect him of something or because you think he will do something in the future”.
Mr Olorunpomi insisted that the PDP “is on a pre-emptive strike. Their press statement should be seen that of a guilty weakling who is screaming and weeping, scared of vanishing into the nothingness they know they are.
“The Tinubu side has kept mum, preferring not to react to what is simply a rumour and a wicked attempt to desecrate the memory of the former governor’s mother,” he said.
