Yoruba marginalisation: Tambuwal must resign – Faseun

The Leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Dr. Frederick Faseun, has demanded for the immediate resignation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal.
Faseun said this is the first step to reverse the imbalance in the distribution of political offices, which is largely to the disadvantage of the Yoruba race.
Faseun, who spoke in Lagos on Wednesday, said Tambuwal is occupying a position meant for the Yoruba.
He said: “Yoruba people have been pushed out of the nation’s First Eleven.
“In the judiciary, the executive and the legislature, Yoruba, with their over 40 million population, have completely been sidelined in national leadership.
“Although President (Goodluck) Jonathan cannot be totally blamed for this unacceptable political arrangement, His Excellency must immediately redress Yoruba marginalisation.
“The urgency cannot be over-emphasised.
“The South-West zone marshalled for President Jonathan a bloc vote totalling well over 70 per cent of regional votes and the people should not be compensated with marginalisation.
“For starters, we demand that the position of the speaker of the House of Representatives, originally zoned to the South-West, should urgently be restored to the to the Yoruba people.
“Tambuwal must resign.”
