The Yobe State Government on Wednesday approved N187.4 million to assist victims of insurgency in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Goni Fika, announced this on Wednesday in Damaturu while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.
Fika said that a census conducted by the State Emergency Management Agency indicated that 99 people died of gunshots and bomb blasts while 132 houses, estimated at N372 million, were burnt.
The council also approved N259.4 million for the payment of GCE and NECO examination fees for students in government-owned schools to provide succour to parents.
The commissioner said other approvals granted included N787.5 million to buy Urea fertiliser for the 2013 farming season and N653.7 million to construct roads and drains in some estates in Damaturu metropolis.
The estates are on Gashua, Gujba roads and Abba Ibrahim Housing Estate while work will be executed through direct labour.
