Woman, 48, arrested overseeing four kidnappers’ den for babies in Delta

Four hideouts of a dare-devil female kidnapper was on Monday uncovered in Delta State.
The suspect, a 48-year-old woman, popularly known as “Mama-Baby”, allegedly rented apartments across each town that makes up Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
While she has one at Ute-Ugbeje, she stationed another at Onicha-Ugbo, another at Igbodo, with the headquarters at Akwukwu-Igbo, where she dishes out authority from.
In each of the hideouts, the suspect has a consortium that runs the criminal package for her and delivers on every conspiracy.
Nemesis was said to have caught up with her on Monday after stealing a one-year-old baby, Proper Okolie, at Atum-Iga.
She had deployed one Uche, her anchor man in Atuma-Iga, who hails for Akwukwu Quarters in Akwukwu-Igbo, but his mother from Atuma, to liaise with his counterpart, simply identified as Onyeka, in charge of Ute-Ogbeje den, to carry out the stealing of Prosper before the police, acting on a tip-off, allegedly swooped on them.
Irked by the development, the Obi of Umunede, a commercial nerve around the locality, sealed the suspect’s rented apartment in his domain.
While the Divisional Police Officer at Akwukwu-Igbo Divisional Police Headquarters could not be reached, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lucky Uyabeme, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident, said: “Yes, the baby has been recovered unhurt.”
According to Uyabeme, the woman is in police custody even as men of the command have since swung into investigation on how to unravel their syndicate networking activities across the state.
