Why we are occupying PENCOM office – DSS

The Department of State Services has justified its continued occupation of the office of the National Pension Commission in Abuja.
Operatives of the DSS have been at the office of the pension coordinating body since President Muhammad Buhari announced a change in its leadership.
President Buhari had last week announced the change in leadership of PENCOM and 24 other Federal Government agencies.
Ahaji Dikko Aliyu Abdulrahman was announced as the new Director General of PENCOM, subject to Senate’s confirmation.
Abdulrahman will take over from Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, who was yet to complete her five-year tense.
The PENCOM DG is entitled to five years in office, subject to renewal for another term in office.
President Buhari also appointed Funso Doherty as Chairman of the PENCOM Board as well as Akin Akinwale, Abubakar Zaki Magawata, Ben Oviosun and Nyerere Ayim as Executive Commissioners.
Explaining the rationale for the occupation of the office, a source in the DSS said: “We did not conduct any raid on PENCOM office.
“What we did was to put a standby team at the office to prevent anybody from tampering or altering any document unlawfully or without due process.
“We had an intelligence information that some documents are being tampered with, some documents are being signed and back dated at the PENCOM office following the announcement of a new management of the commission and we are only being pro-active by ordering all officials there to stop forthwith any action on official documents pending when the new management will assume duty.”
