Wada threatens to dismiss PDP officials who lose LG poll

With less than three weeks to local government election in Kogi State, the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party and the state Governor, Idris Wada, have threatened to sanction any political office holder who fails to win his ward in the forthcoming election.
Wada, who disclosed this at the Government House in Lokoja, the state capital, while inaugurating the campaign and reconciliation committee for the forthcoming poll, also stated that there will be no sacred cow as the person will face the wrath of the party.
He explained that the warning became imperative in view of the pockets of crisis that greeted the just-concluded party primaries and the threat by some aggrieved members of the PDP to work against the interest of the party during the May 2013 council poll.
While delivering his speech, the Chairman of the party, Hassan Salawu, explained that where there are rancour, there can never be development.
He called on all party members to close ranks and ensure that the party wins the coming local government election in the state.
Also speaking at the event was the state Woman Leader, Hajia Zubeidah Mayaki, who also called on the governor to assist the women implement the 30 per cent affirmative action to enable women to take active part in governance.
