Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has appointed Phrank Shaibu as his Chief Communications Manager.
A statement issued in Lokoja on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Nasiru Yinusa, said “the appointment takes immediate effect”.
Shaibu, a communications expert and media strategist, served as Special Adviser on Media to former Governor Ibrahim Idris.
He also served in the same capacity to Alhaji Jibrin Echocho, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Shaibu, reacting to his new appointment, pledged to his loyalty to Wada and the leadership of the PDP at the state and national levels, promising to do his best to ensure the re-election of Wada.
In a separate development, the Kogi State Government said none of its Commissioners and Special Advisers had defected to the APC.
Alhaji Abdurahman Wuya, the Secretary of the Forum of Commissioners and Special Advisers, stated this at a news conference in Lokojaon Wednesday.
Wuya said a newspaper reported that four commissioners had left but insisted that the cabinet of Wada was intact.
He attributed such report to desperation on the part of the opposition.
He said: “We state categorically that no commissioner in the administration of Wada has left or planning to defect from the PDP.
“Members of the Executive Council are accomplished men and women who have actualised themselves in various spheres of life.
“They have remained loyal and committed to the efforts of Wada.”
Wuya, who is the Commissioner for the Environment, was flanked by other commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants to the governor.
