The Defence Headquarters revealed on Monday that it found thousands of Euro currency on the body of a dead terrorist commander after troops repelled a terrorist attack on Mafa in Borno State.
The terrorist commander, who is also an Amir by status and believed to be of foreign descent, is among about 30 terrorist fighters who died in the encounter while many others fled with wounds.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, in a statement, said the terrorists also lost a number weapons and equipment including 13 rifles, a machine gun, rocket propelled grenade tubes and several other assorted ammunition.
A Toyota Bufallo vehicle, according to Olukolade, was also recovered from the terrorists.
Two of their armoured vehicles, he added, were equally destroyed in the battle.
The only casualty on the side of the troops was a damaged equipment.
Mopping up operations, Olukolade said, is ongoing in the general area.
Meanwhile, the offensive on all terrorists hideouts is continuing on many fronts.
