In his speech before the lawmakers tagged: ‘State of the State Address’, Makinde recalled last Saturday night’s attack on residents of Igangan community in Ibarapa area of the state by unknown gunmen.

The governor stated this while commissioning the rehabilitated/refurbished Ilaju Garri Processing Factory in Ilaju community of Ido Local Government Area.
The governor, who stated that true federalism is the future of democracy in the country, said that Nigeria must devolve powers to the federating units, especially the powers to control natural resources and the state security architecture, in order for it to avoid the path of destruction.
Governor Makinde made this declaration in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government, where he visited the families of last weekend’s attacks, stating that the state would empower local security guards and vigilantes in addition to other measures taken to ensure that insecurity becomes a thing of the past in Ibarapaland.
Makinde, who hailed the late Raheem as a hardworking journalist and an individual who is passionate about Oyo State’s development, commiserated with the Guardian newspaper management, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State chapter.
It said the summit would seek to find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing the state.
Makinde further stated that this action by the Buhari Administration is capable of affecting investors’ confidence in the country.

Makinde equally commissioned the upgraded Staff Clinic within the premises of the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan and flagged off the breast and cervical cancer screening, while also handing over nine Luxury Buses to the Oyo State Civil/Public Service for ease of transportation for the staffers.
The governor, while declaring open the 2021 Annual Conference of Nigerian Bar Association-Section on Public Interest and Development Law NBA-SPIDEL, held at the JOGOR Centre, Ibadan, said that an Executive Bill has been sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly proposing the establishment of the Office of the Public Defender.
