The four university-based unions, including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU); Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) have been on strike, most especially in Federal Universities.  

The Front in a statement e- Signed by Dr Tanko Yunusa pointed out thatit made the call in the overriding interest of our nation, but more particularly for the huge number of students, parents, academic and non- teaching staff in all Federal and state-owned universities across the country who have been affected directly by this avoidable strike.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the unions are: Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) under the umbrella of the Joint Action Congress (JAC) of the institution.

Though the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, is being ferociously attacked by the leadership of ASUU over his insistence on the full implementation of the IPPIS across the board, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, where IPPIS is domiciled, is also responsible for all receipts into and payments from the Federation and Consolidated Accounts.
