A Nigeria-Brazil match is on the card next March 29.
This was disclosed on Friday by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, in his opening speech at the inauguration of the 30,000 capacity, all seats and fully covered Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo.
Overwhelmed by the quality attendance, which included President Goodluck Jonathan and his counterparts from Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, Governor Akpabio announced that an agreement has been reached with Brazil to bring the full complement of their national team to face the Super Eagles at the stadium, which he continuously referred to as the “nest of champions”.
It will be the second time that Brazil will be facing Nigeria at full international level following a similar friendly clash at the Abuja National Stadium in 2003.
Brazil, preparing for the Confederation Cup in France, beat Nigeria 3-0 at the occasion.
