Two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists were among over a score of those killed as troops succeeded in repelling the terrorist attack on Shetimari, a town in Borno State on Thursday evening.
Over 12 rifles and one machine gun were captured from the terrorists.
Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, said troops conducting mopping up operation are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those who are on the run.
Olukolade acknowledged the incidents of suicide bomb attacks in Jimeta area of Yola and Maiduguri in Adamawa and Borno States respectively on Thursday evening.
He promised to provide more details on the bombing, adding: “Meanwhile, the offensive operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities, aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults.”
