The authorities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State have asked Nigerians to hold operatives of the Special Task Force posted to the area to maintain the peace responsible for the recent attacks and killings in the locality.
The council said security agencies have failed in their responsibility of protecting lives and properties of the people.
The council raised the alarm over the weekend through the Deputy Chairman, Zakka Gyang, while receiving the gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok, when he visited the council to sympathise with the families of those killed during the attacks by unknown gunmen early this week.
Gyang, who lamented over the activities of operatives of the STF, said there are strong allegations that some members of the security outfit are strongly involved in the organised attacks.
He called on the federal and state governments to investigate and ascertain the allegations so that those involved in the devilish act will be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
Zakka, who thanked the PDP governorship flag bearer for the visit and show of love at this trying moment, said some people are desperate to return the state to its dark old days.
Speaking earlier, the PDP candidate, who was represented by his deputy, Architect Yilji Gomwalk, said he was in the council to sympathise with the people of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area and the families of those that lost their lives during the attacks, which claimed over 12 lives.
The deputy governor hopeful, who later visited the families of the slain victims in Barkin Ladi town and Kassa, was received by the counselor, village heads, relatives and the people of the communities, enjoined them to be security conscious and vigilant.
Yilji, who described the killings as barbaric and wicked, consoled and assured them that government at all levels are doing everything possible to expose the perpetrators of such devilish acts.
He then donated cash to the families to assist them.
