Rivers: Tribunal upholds elections of three PDP lawmakers

The Rivers State Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday upheld the elections of three lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Those whose elections were upheld were Hon. Edison Ehie of Ahoada East 1, Hon. Martins Mannah of Ahoada East II State Constituency and Hon. Blessing Nsiegbe of Port Harcourt Federal Constituency II.
The Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bro. Felix Obuah, says he is elated over the judgment of the Elections Petitions Tribunal.
The elections were held March 19, 2016.
It was a rerun election.
The PDP Chairman expressed satisfaction over the landmark judgments.
He also commended the tribunal judges for standing upright in their unanimous decision on the matters in spite of obvious pressures on them by the opposition and petitioners to subvert justice and declare otherwise.
Obuah reiterated that the PDP, as a law-abiding party, has over the years subjected itself and its activities to the rule of law and has maintained its preference for free, fair and peaceful elections at all levels.
He said the various judgments of the courts in favour of the PDP are in the right direction and, therefore, commendable.
While regretting the slight deliberate distraction by the petitioners from the All Progressives Congress, the PDP Chairman called on the victorious candidates of the party to settle down and give the people of the State meaningful representation in line with the New Rivers vision of Governor Nyesom Wike.
