The Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Joshua Okpo, is dead.
Okpo was said to have died on Monday morning in his Abuja home.
He was said to be in Abuja to defend the Academy’s budget before the National Assembly.
The cause of his death could not be established as at press time.
Okpo’s appointment as the Rector of MAN was renewed by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 31.
It was to be for a period of four years.
It would be his last as the law stipulates a maximum of two terms of four years each as Rector of the institution.
He was first appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, though his appointment was only ratified on April 16, 2012.
