To fortify its team for an excellent performance in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League, Rangers International FC of Enugu has started scouting of players, an official has said.
The club’s Team Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria that Rangers’ technical crew was already scouting for players at the ongoing Enugu State Football League.
Ezeaku said on Thursday in Enugu that “it is my pleasure to thank the Enugu State Football Association Chairman, Chidi Offor-Okenwa, for his achievement in the state league”.
He said: “The league this year has been on high and if you are observant enough, you will discover that Rangers technical crew was not sleeping as they are always at the match venues every day.
“Coach Chukwuma Agbo, Tope Bulus, Ezema Gabriel and I must be present at each match since the beginning of the current league.
“We have been watching the players and we watched the quarter-final matches of the ongoing league and the players exhibited wonderful skills.”
He said that the technical crew had done wonderfully well in their scouting of players and were still ready to watch more matches to discover more players.
Ezeaku said: “I believe that we have done well by our discovery of talented players from the league and the players have also done excellently and I believe that from there we will take it up.”
He expressed joy that no club had ever defended the state league trophy in the past three years.
He said: “Purple Krown Academy won the trophy in 2015, while Coal City Youth FC won it in 2016.”
NAN reports that the defending champions Coal City Youths FC failed to make it to the knockout stage of the ongoing competition.
