Dr Sina Fagbenro-Byron, the presidential candidate of KOWA Party on Saturday, urged Nigerians, especially his supporters, not to be discouraged by the postponement of the elections.
Fagbenro-Byron told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, that such delay should be considered as an enabler of greater victory.
NAN reports that INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had on Saturday morning announced the decision of the commission to shift the election by a week.
Yakubu, who shifted the Presidential and National Assembly elections from February 16 to February 23, also postponed the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls from March 2 to March 9.
He said: “To my fellow Nigerian citizens, especially the younger generation many of who have been inconvenienced by this, I ask that we forebear.
“We will not give up or stand down in our resolve to give this country a much better future.
“This is the time that Nigerians should determine that; only the best is good for us.
“I wish to appeal to my teeming supporters, comrades and Kowa party members not to be discouraged or loose focus, loose hope of a greater, better Nigeria.
“We should consider this as a delay to enable a greater victory.
“Together we can make a diffenerence, with God, all things are possible.”
Fagbenro-Byron urged the Federal Government to ensure that all relevant state agencies were deployed to support the conduct of the elections as a national assignment.
