The Police in Anambra State have recovered the decomposed body of Pa James Iloenyosi, who was abducted in November 2013 by gunmen at his Abagana residence in Njikoka Local Government Area.
Pa Iloenyosi was the father of former Super Eagles player, Chikelue.
Iloenyosi’s body was recovered on Friday by a security team led by the state Commissioner of Police, Usman Gwary, at Nneyi village, Umueri, Anambra East Local Council Area.
The deceased was kidnapped on November 25, 2013, three days to his 80th birthday, while N1.5 million ransom was paid in an attempt to secure his release.
Speaking on the discovery, Gwary said the command had arrested four persons suspected to have kidnapped Iloenyosi.
He said: “We are not going to say much on the details of this operation because we have not finished the investigation in order not to jeopardize what we are doing.
“We still have a lot of people to pick up concerning the kidnap of the man, but right now, we have arrested four persons to that effect.”
The commissioner added that the police and octogenarian’s family members recognised him by the cloths and cap he wore on the day of the ordeal.
