PDP tasks elected, appointed officials to curb wastes in 2014

The Peoples Democratic Party has advised its elected and appointed officials at all levels to redouble efforts and work harder to curb all wastes in 2014.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Olisa Metuh, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.
Metuh also tasked the party’s officials to keep on being prudent in handling the nation’s resources.
This, he said, was critical to ensure that Nigerians not only continue to enjoy the benefit of having the PDP in power, but also vote for it enmasse in the forthcoming general election.
He commended the steadfastness of President Goodluck Jonathan in pursuing his transformation agenda
Metuh said that the President remained steadfast in spite of efforts by the opposition to distract and take him off the course of developing the nation.
He noted that Jonathan’s initiatives had resulted in the accelerated development of key sectors of the country’s economy.
The party’s spokesman also applauded Jonathan, particularly for his initiatives towards the technological advancement of the country.
He cited the establishment of the National Institute of Construction Technology in Uromi, Edo State, the new National Automobile Policy and the implementation of power sector reforms, among others.
Metuh urged Nigerians to continue to support the PDP, noting that party remained the one that could guarantee “a government committed to the national interest and the welfare of all at all times”.
The spokesman said in spite of the party`s challenges in 2013, it remained the most organised party in the country “with genuine followership” across the country.
He also said the PDP remained the pre-eminent party, well ahead and better than the opposition, adding that this was why more people were eager to join the party`s fold.
Metuh said: “The PDP is a party founded on democratic ideology by worthy and respectable leaders.
“It is the only party committed to the national interest, in which no person, group, tribe or religion can claim to play dominant role.”
Metuh further said the party remained strictly committed to its ideology based on the principles of patriotism and service to the people.
This, according to him, explains why self-centered and undemocratic elements find it very difficult to adapt to the dictates of the party.
He added that the challenges that faced the party in 2013 would enlarge rather than shrink its support-base.
Metuh added that while the opposition exercised their penchant for propaganda and hollow claims in the media, but lacked true followership among the people.
He added that Nigerians had become better informed following the development, stressing that the nation would soon witness a galore of entrance into the PDP.
Metuh also commended Jonathan for his steadfastness in delivering on his transformation agenda and not allowing himself to be distracted by the antics of the opposition.
