One person was feared killed and three others injured after two political parties clashed at the All Progressives Congress campaign at the Teslim Balogun Stadiumon Friday.
The slain man, simply identified as Ahmed, Alias Igbagbo, was shot and died at the campaign ground immediately.
Those injured were Monsuru, Sodiq Emo and Shola.
It was gathered that the clash started at the Palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, when the presidential candidate of APC, General Muhammed Buhari, visited the monarch.
Immediately the presidential candidate and his entourage left the palace, the thugs, who had allegedly laid ambush, rushed out and pounced on the APC supporters.
After the first clash at Isale-Eko, the battle ground shifted to Surulere, the campaign venue, where Ahmed was later killed.
One of the injured victims, Monsuru, said: “My colleagues and I went to the Palace of Oba of Lagos as supporters to cheer our presidential candidate, only for us to be attacked by thugs who had been waiting for the campaign train to leave the Island.
“We are tired of these people attacking us.
“We cannot even wear our party clothes because are scared of being attacked.”
A trader in the area said: “We’re only coming to Island for our daily bread and simply tired of political thugs!
“We no longer have rest of mind and our businesses are suffering.
“My co-traders have agreed to stop coming to Island pending the election.
“We believe our lives are more precious to us than what we are selling here.”
