Festus Kehinde, the Deputy General Manager, Ogun State Television on Monday said that the television station had generated over N126.8 million as revenue, between January and October this year.
He said this in Abeokuta, while defending the proposed 2019 budget for the television station before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Kehinde said that N126 million was generated out of the expected N208.3 million for the year, adding that the proceeds were from sales of airtime and earnings from use of government halls.
He said that the state government had started the construction of a digital studio in the television station which planned to generate N250 million as revenue in 2019.
The deputy general manager said that the station had proposed to spend N1.1 billion in 2019, while N750 million was earmarked for capital expenditure and N385million for recurrent expenditure.
Kehinde, however, said that epileptic power supply had remained the major challenge facing the operations of the station, adding that the problem had compelled the station to depend largely on power generators.
He added: “We are proposing to spend N619. 5 million for the purchase of specialised equipment in 2019.
“The proposal is premised on the need to procure more digital equipment which will support our operations, as we cut over to digital broadcasting and digitalisation of broadcast operations.’’
Meanwhile, Victor Fasanya, the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, has criticised the non-appearance of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies that were expected to defend their 2019 budget proposals on Monday.
He warned that such recalcitrant attitude would no longer tolerated by the legislature.
He said: “The budget defence comes up once in a year; some of the MDAs have failed to appear. Henceforth, we are not going to take it lightly with the officials of such MDAs, particularly the commissioners.’’
