The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has blamed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for the destruction of its pipelines.
Amosun said the NNPC is culpable because it has failed in its duties to protect the nation’s pipelines.
He said the corporation should be held responsible for aiding and abetting the vandalization of pipelines.
He said this was because there was no proper security network for the pipelines.
Amosun, who spoke on Sunday at the scene of Friday’s pipeline fire in Arepo, Ogun State, where over 30 vandals were reported burnt to death, said: “NNPC, with their inaction, they are part of of this problem.
“I want to believe that they are part of the people aiding and abetting this pipeline vandalisation.”
Amosun expressed his readiness to partner with the NNPC in the move to secure the pipelines.
