The Enugu State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria on Tuesday said that Nigeria’s World Cup provisional list was “a balanced squad’’.
Norbert Okolie, Chairman, SWAN Enugu State Chapter, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu that Nigerians should look out for outstanding performance in Russia.
Okolie said: “We can go to sleep expecting an impressive show from the Super Eagles in Russia.”
NAN report that the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Coach Gernot Rohr’s 30-man provisional squad for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup was released by the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday.
According to him, the list shows that Rohr understands his players very well and knows what he wants at the World Cup. I never expected anything less.
He said: “About 75 per cent of the players on the list participated in the qualifiers; so, he is taking the players he understands to the Mundial.’’
The SWAN boss noted that the inclusion of Nigeria Professional Football League star striker, Junior Lokosa of Kano Pillars, was a plus for Rohr.
Okolie said: “We, Nigerians, are expecting an impressive show from the Super Eagles in Russia because the 30-man list is a dependable team.’’
NAN reports that the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off from June 14 to July 15.
