The new Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, was on Sunday shielded from the press by the Nigeria Football Federation, The Eagle Online is reporting.
Rohr was scheduled to watch the Nigeria Professional Football League match between Ikorodu United and Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in Lagos.
However, a last minute change of schedule by the NFF saw Rohr holing up in his hotel accommodation in Abuja the whole of Sunday.
Top officials of the NFF told The Eagle Online that the last minute change in Rohr’s programme was to shield him from the critical sporting press in Lagos State.
It was gathered that the NFF was scared officials might not be able to shield the coach from the newsmen, who indeed stormed the venue of the match in anticipation of the coming of Rohr.
Meanwhile, sources equally told The Eagle Online on Sunday that the NFF has eventually settled for Monday to unveil Rohr in Abuja.
Rohr arrived in Abuja on Saturday to assume the headship of the coaching crew of the Super Eagles.
He was said to have been grilled by members of the Technical Committee of the NFF on Saturday.
Among those who had a chat with him were Christian Chukwu and Mutiu Adepoju.
Rohr was said to have agreed to relocate to Nigeria as part of the conditions for the job.
Sources told The Eagle Online that even before arrangements were concluded for him to hit Nigeria on Saturdayfrom France, Rohr had told his wife about the fact that they have to relocate to Nigeria.
But for the NFF thinking otherwise, sources told The Eagle Online that he had proposed to the football house the idea of coming with his wife to enable him assume duty immediately.
