NEPC trains new exporters in Plateau on successful, profitable export

The Nigeria Export Promotion Council on Friday trained newly registered exporters in Plateau on how to export their non-oil products successfully and profitably.
Nanakaan Saave, NEPC Zonal Coordinator, North-Central, in a speech at the opening of the one-day clinic held in Jos, said that the training was essential for success in the endeavour.
Saave said: “The training is particularly necessary in view of Federal Government’s efforts to reduce over-dependence on oil.
“Making a success of export endeavours requires professionalism in the entire value chain of the exporter’s product.
“It requires clear understanding of processes inherent in exporting so as to avoid mistakes that could vitiate your business.
“Uninformed decisions in this dynamic field of export will surely lead to failure and lack of acceptance in the international market.
“Because of the dynamic nature of exporting, even those who are already knowledgeable in the field need to constantly update themselves with new trends.’’
The coordinator said that the clinic was packaged to make the exporters more confident and save them from avoidable errors.
According to him, when exporters attain the objectives of their companies, those of the entire Nigerian national economy would automatically be met.
He said that the country was faced with crippling recession due to the fall in the price of oil, stressing that non-oil export diversification was the only way out of the economic crises.
Saave commended the exporters for venturing into the business at a critical time of the country’s history, saying that the national economy would equally benefit immensely.
David Dayi, Co-Founder, Kims Coffee and Acha Synfanio, commended the federal government who, through the NEPC, was encouraging local investors to export their products.
Dayi said that the country was blessed with many products that could give the country a favourable balance of trade, if the enabling environment was created.
He said that the NEPC clinic was the right step in the right direction to boost exports.
The co-founder stated that his export endeavours and those of fellow exporters would not be the same after the training.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 46 exporters, whose products included coffee, solid minerals and agricultural products like hungry rice, ginger, among others, attended the training.
