The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control on Friday warned youths in the country against alcohol abuse.
The agency also intends to place a ban on the production and sale of sachet alcoholic drinks within the country.
The Assistant Chief Regulator, Investigation and Enforcement Department, NAFDAC, Kazeem Adeniran, gave the warning while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ota, Ogun State.

Adeniran said: “We are appealing to youths in the country to desist from abuse of alcohol because this could destroy their future.”
He identified alcohol abuse as one of the major causes of crimes in the country.
He also said some of the road traffic crashes in the country can be traced to usage of alcohol by motorists because of its negative effect on sense of reasoning.
The Officer reassured of the commitment of NAFDAC to intensify public enlightenment against abuse of alcohol in order to ensure sanity in the society.
Also, Adeniran appealed to companies in the country to partner with NAFDAC in the fight against alcohol abuse.
