Metuh sent to prison again over destruction of evidence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday arraigned the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja on charges bordering on destruction of evidence.
Metuh, who was alleged to have destroyed the statement he made under caution to the EFCC, pleaded not guilty to the two counts charge brought against him.
The offences were said to be contrary to sections 166 and 326 of the Penal Code Act.
Metuh was arraigned before the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Ishaq Bello.
Metuh applied for bail in the case.
Justice Bello ordered that Metuh should be remanded in prison until Monday when he will hear his application for bail.
Metuh is being remanded in Kuje Prisons, Abuja, based on an earlier order of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which is trying him on charges of money laundering.
He was alleged to have collected N400 million from a former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
The money was said to be part of the $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms top fight the Boko Haram insurgency.
