Lobi Stars came from a goal down to beat Liga Muçulmana of Mozambique 3-1in their first round of 16 first leg of the Confederations Cup at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Bauchi State on Sunday.
Joseph Kamwende shot the visitors into the lead in the 12th minute of play.
Lobi Stars resurgence started in the last 13th minute of the game as three quick goals ensured Nigerians go into the second leg with advantage.
Heartland, the other Nigerian club side in the Confederations Cup, struggled to a slim 2-1 win against US Bitam at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Imo State.
Heartland opened scoring in the 22nd minute through Jolly Osas after several misses.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Nigerian side.
On resumption, Isa Akor made up for his earlier misses when he scored the second goal for the home side in the 52nd minute.
However, the ovation that greeted the goal had hardly died down before the visitors pulled one back in the 53rd minute.
In the 64th minute, US Bitam player, Emmanuel Ndola, was sent off for the second booking.
Thomas Libili, coach of the visiting team, was again red carded by referee in the 75th minute of play.
In Burundi, Rangers International held home side, Vitalo, to a goaless draw in their first leg, first round match of the Orange/CAF Confederation Cup.
The second leg match will come up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in a fortnight.
It is recalled that Kano Pillars on Saturday defeated the visiting AC Leopard of Congo by four goals to one in their Orange/CAF Champions league tie inside Sani Abacha stadium, Kano.
Lobi goals came through Osas Aigbe in the 72nd minute, Lawrence John in the 87th minute and Eze Stephen in the 90th minute.
