Lawmakers arrive 6:30am to commence Al-Makura’s removal

The members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly arrived at 6:30am at the Assembly complex on Wednesday amid tight security to begin the removal process of the state Governor, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
The lawmakers were accompanied by heavily armed security men to the Assembly complex.
They met for less than 15 minutes beginning from 10am..
During the sitting, the lawmakers directed the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman Dikko, to set up a seven-man panel to probe Al-Makura.
‎Sixteen impeachable offences were listed against the governor last week.
The Speaker, Hon. Musa Mohammed (PDP-Nasarawa Central), gave the directive to Dikko sequel to a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Godiya Akwashiki (PDP-Nasarawa Eggon West).
The motion was supported by Hon. Mohammed Baba Ibaku (PDP-Udege Loko).
It was unanimously adopted by the 20 lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Al-Makura belongs to the All Progressives Congress.
The committee to be set up by Dikko has seven days within which to report back to the House.
Unconfirmed reports had it that the lawmakers left for Abuja immediately after the sitting.
