The House of Representatives primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State was characterised by late arrival of materials, which led to anxiety and crisis.
Monitoring by The Eagle Online showed that accreditation started in most of the centres at about 4:35pm.
The situation was not different in Kwale, Oleh, Ughelli, Sapele, except Agbor where voting commenced at about 4:45pm, with armed policemen and other security operatives on ground to maintain peace and order.
At the Cenotaph, Asaba, where the primaries for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency was held, delegates conducted themselves in a riotous manner.
A woman aspirant, Onyemachi Mrakpor, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Aniocha Constituency, pulled her wristwatch, dropped her bag with her aides and was ready to fight the Local Government Chairman.
It took the intervention of security agents to stop her.
As at the time of filling the report, voting was still on.
The situation was tense in Bomadi also, following the arrival of voting materials for Bomadi Federal Constituency.
Delegates and aspirants for the election were said to have fled for safety when thugs loyal to some of the aspirants engaged each other in a shootout.
Though reasons for the exchange of gunfire as at the time of filing this report was still sketchy, it was gathered that loyalists to an aspirant was campaigning for their candidate after being warned to desist from such.
Voting materials arrived Kiagbodo Primary School, venue of the Burutu Federal Constituency poll at 4:35pm amidst tight security.
As at the time of filling the report, voting was on.
At 5pm at the Warri Township Stadium, where the Warri Federal Constituency ticket of the PDP for the 2015 elections is expected to be decided, no activity had started.
All the aspirants, who had arrived earlier along with several delegates, were kept in suspense, awaiting the arrival of party officials assigned to conduct the election.
In Ika Federal Constituency, the incumbent, Victor Nwokolo, won with 57 votes while his opponents, Philip Ukwadia and Martins Okonta, scored 44 and 04 respectively.
As at press time, other results were yet to be declared.
