Lagos Lands Bureau plans to start electronic processing of C of O

Moshood told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that this would be made possible because the bureau’s Land Registration Board had taken necessary steps to streamline land administration.

According to him, the bureau’s records and archival materials are up to date.

He said that up-to-date records were one of the requirements for electronic processing of C of O to fully take effect.

“With this electronic system, the processing of C of O will be made much easier, faster and less stressful.

“Once an applicant completes the on-line registration, having submitted all required documents, the certificate would automatically be issued to him or her,” he said.

He told NAN that the electronic processing of land ownership certificate would be tagged (e)-C of O, saying that the (e)-C of O would likely take-off before the end of this year.

“The (e)-C of O certificates will be generated with biometrics data to prevent fraud,“ he said.

He said that the bureau was trying to ensure that land administration documents and the certificate of occupancy in the state could not be forged.

“We want everybody, irrespective of location to be able to access all the transactions on their C of O at the press of a button,”he said.

He said that effectiveness in the administration of land matters could be achieved with the (e)-C of O in place.
