Kano completes 11 inherited 5km roads – Commissioner

The Kano State Commissioner of Information, Malam Mohammed Garba, said the State Government had completed 11 out of the remaining 34 5km roads across the 44 local government areas of the state, inherited from the previous administration.
Garba, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Kano, said the roads were completed within the two years of the present administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to him, the previous administration which awarded the contract was able to complete only five of the 5km roads.
He said the present administration would ensure the completion of the remaining roads before the end of its tenure.
Garba said: “The Prince Abubakar Audu underpass, which was commissioned before its completion, was completed by the present government.
“The Sabon Gari Bridge is one of the longest. We met the bridge at only 30 per cent completion, but we have achieved over 70 per cent completion.”
He also said that the ongoing underpass project along Madobi Road had reached 75 per cent completion and that the facility would be completed before the end of next year.
Garba also disclosed that over 70 per cent completion had been achieved in the construction of a Skill Acquisition Training Centre in the state.
He said that if completed, over 20 different skill acquisition programmes would be run by the centre.
