Insecurity: Gov. Ortom to meet stakeholders from LGs

Following the increased insecurity challenges in Benue, Governor Samuel Ortom has scheduled meetings with stakeholders from five local government areas of the state.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Makurdi.
The statement named the affected local governments as Katsina-Ala, Ukum, Logo, Kwande, Gboko and Agatu.
According to the statement, the governor will meet with stakeholders from Katsina-Ala, Ukum, Logo, Kwande and Gboko on Thursday, while those of Agatu will be on Friday.
It stated: “The agenda of the meeting will be a discussion of the prevailing security challenges in those areas. A formal invitation to the meeting is being extended to the concerned stakeholders not specifically mentioned.
“These include District Heads, Third, Second and First Class Traditional Rulers, local government chairmen, serving and elected National and State Assembly members, selected religious leaders as well as other prominent sons and daughters from the local government areas.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the state government had on Monday, April 15, announced a 24-hour curfew on Katsina-Ala town as part of the measures to mitigate the crisis.
