Gunmen have killed three policemen and five vigilantes in an ambush in Kogi State.
The attack was said to have been carried out on Saturday in Jidda-Bassa community, Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
The incident was confirmed on Saturday by the Jerry Omodara, the Security Adviser to the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
According to available information, some persons living in Jidda-Bassa community reported to the Divisional Police Officer of the area that some unknown people had attacked their farms, carting away produce.
The DPO was said to have mobilised some of his men and vigilantes to the scene.
However, they were ambushed on their way to the scene of the incident.
Omodara said the state government will ensure that those who carried out the dastardly act were apprehended.
